Woodshed is founded by hue, a creative collective based out of Yale University. We believe in youth-led education by students, for students.
We are currently piloting in schools in New Haven, CT.
We use Ableton's "Learning Music" course to help beginners get started. We recommend starting the course from the beginning and work until you reach "The Playground."
In our experience learning music online, community forums such as Discord and Reddit have been instrumental in developing relationships and receiving quick, specific instruction. Additionally, we have partnered with A&Rs at record labels to help spotlight and scout early-stage musicians.

Woodshed's course is meant to be self-directed — the modules can be used as elementary homework assignments or for live demonstration. On our forum, we are currently building a Classroom Management feature for music educators to track their students' progress and assign exclusive assignments.
As of now, Woodshed is free! We are a public-benefit corporation whose sole purpose is to encourage more youth to enjoy in making music. We are currently funded by grants and are always welcome to donations.
